Seven (plus one) letters
In one week (plus or minus).
Here’s to walks in the grass,
Summer stars,
And the lake.
I thank God for her.
My dad stopped by Ellensburg on his way back from fishing in Eastern Washington. Among some of the letters he delivered to my brother and me was the much anticipated letter from the United States Department of the Interior [in smaller letters, “National Park Service, Mount Rainier National Park”].
This is perhaps one of the most important documents I will receive for some time as this confirms my group’s summer backpacking adventure! Cathy, Sean, Robb and I have been given the following itinerary:
08/01/2006 — Longmire Trailhead (WT)
08/01/2006 — Devil’s Dream Camp
08/02/2006 — So. Puyallup River Camp
08/03/2006 — Klapatche Park Camp
08/04/2006 — Golden Lakes Camp
08/05/2006 — So. Mowich River Camp
08/06/2006 — Mowich Lake Trailheads
If you are interested, here is a map of our plans.
Do you ever get the feeling in looking at someone you pass on the street or somewhere that you have known them for your whole life, even though you are certain you have never seen them before and you will never see them again?
Do you ever get this awful craving to buy a useless object, even though you really don’t need it?

(Sigh. Three times. Whatever will I do with her? Swoon. )
