W.W.J.C.D.?
I have been immersed in Julie and Julia lately and reading (as much as I am able to) about the fantastic Julia Child. Including looking at photographs of her kitchen, dreaming of her life in Paris before she became the French Chef… What was she like…?
Robb and I own a set of colourful mise en place bowls from the Martha Stewart line. It just so happens that these fit perfectly in the drain of our sink. When I say “perfectly” I do mean that. They work fantastically as a stopper and will not come out by any sort of prying. After much frustration we nearly gave up.
But Julia Child came to me. Well, not literally, but more like I recalled what she might do in this situation. So, I went downstairs and got the plunger (yes, disgusting I know) then sucked that little bowl out from its tightly wedged position in our sink. (Then we disinfected the sink and bowl.)
In situations like this, I am learning to not get frustrated but remain level headed and then ask myself, “What would Julia Child do?” And then it comes to me.
